Softball Game Preview: Fall River Bulldogs vs. Loyalton Grizzlies

The Fall River Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the Loyalton Grizzlies at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Fall River will be strutting in after a victory while Loyalton will be coming in after a loss.

Fall River was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Plumas Charter. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Darcie Range, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Katie Hawkins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Loyalton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Modoc, falling 9-3.

Loyalton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Fall River, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Fall River took their win against Loyalton in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 15-5. Will Fall River repeat their success, or does Loyalton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
