Hammond Morton proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the East Chicago Central Cardinals 3-2. While the Governors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 0-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Hammond Morton got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 18-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-9.

Hammond Morton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for East Chicago Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Hammond Morton will take on Whiting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Chicago Central, they will be playing at home against Hammond Academy of Science & Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
