Basketball Recap: Payton Wills' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Newark over Serena

Newark and Serena squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Newark had to settle for second. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Serena Huskers. The Norsemen were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskers earlier this season, when they won 62-44.

Several Norsemen players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Payton Wills, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Wills is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Dylan Long was another key player, putting up nine points.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 18-14. As for Serena, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Newark nor Serena have any future games scheduled.
