Softball Recap: Jeffers Jets vs. Marquette Sentinels

Jeffers extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They came up short against the Marquette Sentinels, falling 25-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 on Thursday.

As for Marquette, they now have a winning record of 19-18. Considering they have won 15 matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Marquette's part, Lily Smigiel made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Smigiel was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 16 games.

In other batting news, Marquette got a massive performance out of Charlye Swajanen, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Swajanen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ady Trapani, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Jeffers nor Marquette have any future games scheduled.
