Recap: Tarpon Springs Spongers vs. East Lake Eagles

The Tarpon Springs Spongers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 56-16 loss at the hands of East Lake. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tarpon Springs in their matchups with East Lake: they've now lost four in a row.

Emily Cartier was Tarpon Springs' leading scorer, having posted eight points. Cartier also led the team in rebounds with six.

East Lake found their leader in underclassman Avery Chatman, who scored 29 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Chatman has scored at least 25% of East Lake's points. Chanya Deboy was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.

Tarpon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for East Lake, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tarpon Springs won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Dunedin at 7:45 p.m. on December 6th. Dunedin is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. East Lake's road trip will continue as they head out to face Countryside at 7:45 p.m. on December 8th. Countryside is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
