Recap: Cair Paravel Lions vs. Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles
The Cair Paravel Lions had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Maranatha Christian Academy 74-28 at home. The result was nothing new for Cair Paravel, who have now won six matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Jesiah Bonura continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 185 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards. Bonura was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Pavlik, who threw for 68 yards and three touchdowns.
Cair Paravel's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Maranatha Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Cair Paravel will be playing in front of their home fans against Sedan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sedan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Cair Paravel is ranked sixth). Maranatha Christian Academy is on the road again on Thursday and play against Yates Center at 7:00 p.m. on October 26th. Yates Center is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
