Baseball Recap: Rocky Mount Comes Up Short

Rocky Mount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Northern Nash Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gryphons of the 14-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Jack McKellar was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reed Stinson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Rocky Mount's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Northern Nash, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6.

While Rocky Mount had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
