Softball Recap: Brunswick Takes a Loss

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Brunswick's offense. They fell just short of the Catoctin Cougars by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Railroaders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Kassidy Barnhouse was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brunswick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Higgins, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Brunswick moved to 8-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Catoctin, they pushed their record up to 13-1-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Brunswick does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Catoctin, they will challenge Boonsboro at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
