Softball Recap: Orion Chargers vs. Hall Red Devils

While Orion's victory against Hall wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Red Devils on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won seven in a row.

Lainey Kunert made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Orion got a great performance from Kendyl Filler as she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. The dominant performance also gave Filler a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Orion will venture away from home to take on Mercer County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers are facing the Golden Eagles at the right time seeing as the Golden Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Hall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
