Football Game Preview: Talawanda Brave vs. Harrison Wildcats

Talawanda is 2-8 against Harrison since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Brave will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Talawanda gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They breezed past Northwest to the tune of 35-3. The win was just business as usual for the Brave, who after seven games remain undefeated this season.

Lance Cantrell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 176 yards and three TDs. Cantrell is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 127 every time he's taken the field this season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Talawanda was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Talawanda didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kemper McAfee and Windon Lowe.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harrison). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Mt. Healthy 51-13. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-0.

Talawanda's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Harrison, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Talawanda was dealt a bruising 56-15 defeat at the hands of Harrison when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Brave were down 49-7.
