Softball Recap: Piner Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

While Piner's victory against Healdsburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Prospectors skirted past the Greyhounds 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Prospectors in their matchups with the Greyhounds: they've now won five in a row.

Mialynn Membrilla made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Parra, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nya Parra, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Piner hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Piner's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Healdsburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

Piner will take on Ukiah in a tournament on Thursday. Healdsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
