Baseball Recap: Dexter Takes a Loss

Dexter extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They came up short against the Ruidoso Warriors, falling 27-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-3 defeat on April 12th.

As for Ruidoso, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

For Ruidoso's part, Levi Shelton made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shelton also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ruidoso is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-12 otherwise. Shelton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ruidoso got a massive performance out of Carson Stratton, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Stratton is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Saiz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Coincidentally, Dexter and Ruidoso will both be playing Bosque the next time they take the field. The Demons will head out to face the Bobcats at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
