Softball Recap: Brazos Christian Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Brazos Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 13-8 win over the BVCHEA HomeSchool Mustangs. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 10-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Campbell Marler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over six innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Marler was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ramsey Wright, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brenna Dorman, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Brazos Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as BVCHEA HomeSchool only posted an OBP of .379.

Brazos Christian has already played their next contest (against Bartlett), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for BVCHEA HomeSchool, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 19-5 loss against St. Joseph Catholic on the 7th.
