Mt. Hope had won five straight games and Robert Annis did his part to make it six on Saturday. The Huskies blew past the North Providence Cougars 35-14 thanks in part to Annis, who rushed for 180 yards and five scores while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 62 yards.
The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Rogers, who gained 145 total yards. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending four passes.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mt. Hope's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Ben Martel with two. Mt. Hope is undefeated when Martel posts one or more sacks, but 1-2 otherwise. Brody Cavalieri was another major factor on D, making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.
Mt. Hope's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for North Providence, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.
