Basketball Recap: Moody Takes a Loss

Moody was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-36 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chilton Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bearcats have suffered since November 19, 2024.

Leading Chilton to victory were Mariyah Suiters and Novia Coleman. Suiters dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten steals, while Coleman went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Suiters is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatiyanna Sanchez, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Moody's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Chilton, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-9.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Moody Bearcats challenge the Mart Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Moody has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Chilton, they will square off against Bruceville-Eddy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chilton is facing Bruceville-Eddy at the right time seeing as Bruceville-Eddy is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
