Navajo Prep waltzed into their match  on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tohatchi Cougars, sneaking past  13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Eagles have posted  since April 3rd.
 Leilani Wood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out seven batters over  5.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits (and not a single walk). Those  seven  strikeouts gave  her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and one  run. She has been hot recently, having  posted  at least one  stolen base the last three times she's  played.
 In other batting news,  Isabella Yazzie was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with four  stolen bases, five  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  five  RBI gave  her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Amia Salazar, who  went 2-for-4 with three  stolen bases and four  runs.
 Navajo Prep  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least nine  hits in six consecutive  games.
Navajo Prep pushed their record up to 14-5 with the  victory, which was their sixth straight  at home. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 25.5 runs over those games. As for Tohatchi,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 8-11.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Navajo Prep is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Thoreau  at 3:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Tohatchi will  challenge  rival Wingate  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
