Baseball Recap: Murrieta Mesa Victorious

Murrieta Mesa got themselves on the board against Great Oak on Tuesday, but Great Oak never followed suit. They came out on top against the Wolfpack by a score of 4-0. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Cooper Child's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Murrieta Mesa is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Murrieta Mesa's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Blackmon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Blackmon has posted since back in April. Bentley Dominguez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Murrieta Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Great Oak, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season.

Murrieta Mesa will have a chance to go back-to-back against Great Oak: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
