2A-1 Region I District 1 recap September 24, 2013
Muleshoe moved up to 437 from 603 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region I District 1. The Mules were able to move up by beating Roosevelt 42-12.
Childress took down Floydada 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Bushland's Taylor Cornelius and Brian Gillette have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cornelius has thrown for 1,175 yards this season, while Gillette, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 31 catches for 348 yards. Da'Shoud Hughes from the Bobcats leads the league in rushing with 398 yards.
Muleshoe made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,135 from 6,036. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-12 victory over the Eagles last week.
