Baseball Recap: Millbrook Comes Up Short

Buckeye Valley hit Millbrook with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats fell just short of the Barons by a score of 8-6. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Barons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Millbrook got a good showing from Carter Woodward, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Woodward also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Wildcats are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gavin Mosler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Millbrook has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Buckeye Valley, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Millbrook will host Southwest Guilford at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Buckeye Valley, they will head out to take on Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
