Basketball Recap: Mercer Island Takes a Loss

Mercer Island lost against Woodinville back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mercer Island Islanders were outmatched by the Woodinville Falcons and fell 74-46. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Falcons are ranked first).

Despite the defeat, Mercer Island had strong showings from Anna Mock, who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points, and Anna Marsh, who posted six points along with seven boards and three steals. Marsh has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Ayden Nov also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Jazlyn Wilkerson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Woodinville, going 13 for 24 on her way to 30 points. Sienna Bieler was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 14 points.

Mercer Island's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Woodinville, the win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Mercer Island wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-56 victory against Issaquah on the 17th. As for Woodinville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-41 win against Juanita on the 17th.
