Softball Recap: Jefferson County North Takes a Loss

Jefferson County North had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it 11. They lost 26-5 to the Oskaloosa Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Thursday.

Bowie Weishaar was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Emmarie Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Oskaloosa, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Oskaloosa's side, Parris Marsh was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Marsh continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michaela Berry, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Coming up, Jefferson County North will face off against Wabaunsee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson County North's pitchers better be ready for this one: Wabaunsee has averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Oskaloosa, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Wellsville at 4:30 p.m. on May 5.
