Baseball Recap: East Ridge Has No Trouble Against Brainerd

East Ridge had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Brainerd on Friday. The East Ridge Pioneers blew past the Brainerd Panthers 18-2. That's more bragging rights for the Pioneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Payton Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases.

In other batting news, Dylan Owens was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Six bases. while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Jacob Davis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

East Ridge now has a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Ridge will venture away from home to take on Signal Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Brainerd, they will head out on the road to face off against Bledsoe County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bledsoe County has four straight wins, Brainerd has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
