Basketball Recap: Lexington School for the Deaf Takes a Loss

Lexington School for the Deaf was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 45-37 to the New York School for the Deaf Golden Tornadoes. While losing is never fun, the Blue Jays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 697th, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 215th).

New York School for the Deaf had a senior duo take command as Crystal Pon went 10-for-12 on her way to 24 points and four steals and Jireth Duque-Vasquez dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 steals. Those 11 steals gave Duque-Vasquez a new career-high. Micaella Padagas was another key player, putting up four points and six steals.

Lexington School for the Deaf's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for New York School for the Deaf, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Lexington School for the Deaf didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 37-23 loss against Pennsylvania School For The Deaf on the 15th. As for New York School for the Deaf, they have also already played their next game, a 55-33 win against Ohio School for the Deaf on the 15th.
