Baseball Game Preview: East Liverpool Potters vs. Minerva Lions

The East Liverpool Potters will head out on the road to challenge the Minerva Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. East Liverpool hasn't scored more than two runs for six games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

East Liverpool's last matchup with Toronto could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Potters came up short against the Red Knights, falling 13-2. On the bright side, the two- run performance marked the Potters' highest-scoring matchup to date.

East Liverpool saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elliot Fitch, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That hit marked the first that Fitch got this season.

Meanwhile, Minerva fell victim to West Branch and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

East Liverpool's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Minerva, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

East Liverpool skirted past Minerva 9-8 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Potters since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
