Newburg waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 56-45 victory over the Vienna Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolves also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Vienna saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Teagan James went 8 of 16 to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alex Zimmer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Newburg now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Vienna, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Looking ahead, Newburg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Steelville at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Vienna, they will square off against Tuscumbia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vienna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.
