Baseball Recap: James Monroe Gets the Win

While James Monroe's victory against Liberty wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mavericks won by a run and slipped past the Raiders 7-6. Seven seems to be a good number for the Mavericks as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

James Monroe saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Gardinier, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave Gardinier a new career-high.

James Monroe is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Liberty, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Monroe will venture away from home to face off against Greenbrier East at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty, they will challenge WestSide at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
