Basketball Recap: Tavionn Pickens Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Westbury

Spring Woods won the last time they faced Westbury and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spring Woods Tigers were the clear victor by a 68-48 margin over the Westbury Huskies. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Spring Woods' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tavionn Pickens led the charge by going 10 of 14 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Pickens has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trae Pickens, who went 9 for 10 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds.

Spring Woods was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westbury only posted seven assists.

Despite the loss, Westbury had strong showings from Nicholas Homer, who posted 12 points, and Mayowa Olatoto, who earned six points.

Spring Woods' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.5 points. As for Westbury, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Spring Woods has already played their next game, a 58-50 victory against Austin on the 24th. As for Westbury, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 43-42 defeat against Waltrip on the 25th.
