Derek Smith posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Monday. He struck out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits, good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
