Softball Game Preview: Shenango Wildcats vs. Bentworth Bearcats

The Shenango Wildcats will take on the Bentworth Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Shenango's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Bentworth's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Shenango is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Apollo Ridge as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, while Bentworth put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Burgettstown. The Bearcats walked away with a 5-0 win over the Blue Devils. The victory continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Sydney Gonglik was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoie McDonald, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Bentworth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burgettstown only posted a batting average of .000.

Shenango's record is now 16-5. As for Bentworth, their record now sits at 18-2.

Shenango couldn't quite finish off Bentworth when the teams last played back in May of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
