Basketball Recap: Abbott Takes a Loss

If Abbott was riding high fresh off their 61-30 takedown of Jonesboro last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aquilla Cougars on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Aquilla got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaxon Pinner out in front who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 14 boards. Ryan Hill was another key player, putting up 22 points and four steals.

Abbott's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Aquilla, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5.

Coming up, Abbott won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Evant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Aquilla, they and Oglesby will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
