Fuqua is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Quantico. Fuqua strolled past Quantico with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 46-30. The victory was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, while Greenbrier Christian Academy put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Broadwater Academy. Greenbrier Christian Academy breezed by Broadwater Academy at home to the tune of 51-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenbrier Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than DJ Caban, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Moravec, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown.
Greenbrier Christian Academy wouldn't let Broadwater Academy keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Jeremiah Alobele, Matthew Downes, and Matthew Alobele picked up one apiece. Jeremiah also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making four total tackles. Another thorn in Broadwater Academy's side was Brady Countiss, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Greenbrier Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 359 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in eight consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Fuqua took a serious blow against Greenbrier Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2021, falling 43-6. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fuqua was down 35-6.
