Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Anahuac's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Anahuac won the last time they faced Hardin and things went their way on Monday too. Anahuac was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Hardin.

Brecken Wilpitz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anahuac got a big performance out of Estefani Palacios, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Palacios also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Keeley Butler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Palacios wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Anahuac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Anahuac is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. Hardin dropped their record down to 3-10-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Anahuac will head out to face off against Warren at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anahuac is facing Warren at the right time seeing as Warren is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Hardin, they will square off against Buna at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
