Volleyball Recap: Unioto Shermans vs. Adena Warriors
If Unioto was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Portsmouth West on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Shermans lost 3-0 to the Adena Warriors on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Shermans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Unioto was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Adena work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-24, 25-16.
Charlotte Dennis paced Unioto's offense, picking up 13 kills. Dennis got some help from Kinzli Batson and her 30 assists. Ava Patterson controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adena to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allie Bossert, who had seven digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Bossert a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimmy Dalton, who had 13 digs and one assist.
Unioto's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Adena, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Unioto will face off against rival Paint Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Adena is set to take on their familiar foe Zane Trace at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
