Basketball Recap: Coral Academy of Science - Reno Comes Up Short

Coral Academy of Science - Reno was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 42-17 to the Battle Mountain Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Longhorns are ranked 21st).

When it comes to explaining why Coral Academy of Science - Reno lost, don't look at Teleina Smith. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Battle Mountain's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lindsey Bleak, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points and six steals. What's more, Bleak also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Noel Hill was another key player, putting up 14 points along with five assists and five boards.

Coral Academy of Science - Reno's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Battle Mountain, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Coral Academy of Science - Reno didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-32 defeat against Yerington on the 18th. As for Battle Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-17 loss against Lowry on the 17th.
