Basketball Recap: Madison County Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After a string of four wins, Madison County's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to the Brooks County Trojans 46-41. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2014.

Despite the loss, Madison County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jahlaya Wilson dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. Wilson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Madison County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Brooks County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trinity Vinson, who posted five points in addition to 11 steals and six boards. Those 11 steals gave Vinson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Imani Hall, who had nine points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Madison County's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-6. As for Brooks County, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison County will host Leon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Madison County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. As for Brooks County, they will welcome Atkinson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
