Baseball Recap: Shakamak Takes a Loss

Shakamak extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-5 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds. The Lakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Eastern Greene, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.

For Eastern Greene's part, not much got past Gavin Whitfield, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Shakamak off the board.

On the hitting side, Eastern Greene saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasen Cullison, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Shakamak has already played their next match (against Jasper), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Eastern Greene, they have also already played their next game, a 15-2 win against North Central on the 1st.
