Basketball Recap: Centennial's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

While it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Centennial was not quite Northland's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Northland Vikings by a score of 54-52. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 77-56 back in December of 2024.

Northland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diante James, who went 6 of 15 en route to 15 points along with six assists and four steals. The game was James' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Shoultz, who posted 12 points.

With the loss, Centennial broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-4. As for Northland, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

Centennial and Northland should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Centennial (ranked 326th) will meet Whetstone (ranked 759th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Northland will face off against East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 262 places (200 vs. 462).
