Soccer Game Preview: Cathedral City vs. Desert Hot Springs

The Cathedral City Lions will take on the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Hot Springs took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cathedral City, who comes in off a win.

Cathedral City took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Desert Mirage out 3-2.

Cathedral City hit Desert Mirage with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Nefthali Lopez, Estevan Gavilan, and Angel Gomez.

Meanwhile, Desert Hot Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 2-0 to Banning. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Broncos are ranked 275th).

Desert Hot Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-2. As for Cathedral City, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Cathedral City skirted past Desert Hot Springs 1-0 when the teams last played last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cathedral City since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
