Football Game Preview: New Home Leopards vs. West Texas Comanches + How To Watch

The New Home Leopards will square off against the West Texas Comanches on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with New Home sitting on four straight wins and West Texas on 12.

New Home is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 21-20 photo finish over Stamford. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Leopards have posted since August 30, 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Ryder Starkey, who rushed for 70 yards and one score.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something New Home proved: they limited Stamford to a paltry 1.4 yards per carry. The Leopards' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.2.

Meanwhile, West Texas didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Hawley on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 30-26 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Comanches' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Bearcats are ranked 381st).

West Texas had a senior duo take command as Cayde Winters rushed for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Kelby Sherwood rushed for 71 yards and two TDs. Winters is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 162 every time he's taken the field this season.

New Home's record is now 10-2. As for West Texas, their record now sits at 12-0.
