Softball Recap: David Crockett Extends Winning Streak to Three

The matchup between David Crockett and Grainger on Monday hardly resembled the 2-2 effort from their previous meeting. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 15-5 victory. Considering the Pioneers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Madelyn Dulaney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, David Crockett got a massive performance out of Brylee Tullock, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Tullock has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Julie Maupin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

David Crockett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grainger only posted a batting average of .250.

The win was the third in a row for David Crockett, bringing their record up to 22-8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Grainger, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-9.

As of now, neither David Crockett nor the Grizzlies have any future games scheduled.
