Softball Game Preview: Herrin Tigers vs. Harrisburg Bulldogs

The Herrin Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Harrisburg Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Herrin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Herrin barely beat Massac County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Patriots on Friday. The Tigers have beaten the Patriots the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Patriots has come to flipping the script.

Sophia Schramm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Reese Elliott was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Remy James was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Herrin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Harrisburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Red Devils by a score of 7-4.

Herrin now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Harrisburg, their record is now 12-3.
