Basketball Recap: Golden West Takes a Loss

Golden West played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 76-49 loss at the hands of the Corcoran Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while the Panthers are ranked 242nd).

Javon Bragg continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Corcoran, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 16 rebounds. Bragg's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Fernandez, who posted ten points and three blocks.

This is the second loss in a row for Golden West and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Corcoran, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

When Golden West and Corcoran next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Golden West will try to stop Central Valley Christian's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Corcoran will try to stop Tulare Western's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
