Preview: South Hagerstown Rebels vs. North Hagerstown Hubs
The South Hagerstown Rebels will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the North Hagerstown Hubs at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
South Hagerstown came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 65-52 victory over Williamsport.
Meanwhile, North Hagerstown came up short against Williamsport last Saturday and fell 82-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (69), North Hagerstown still had to take the loss.
Brady Walters put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Landon Somerville was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, North Hagerstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williamsport only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
South Hagerstown is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for North Hagerstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
South Hagerstown couldn't quite finish off North Hagerstown in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 67-64. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of North Hagerstown's Nas Keyes, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Now that South Hagerstown knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
