Basketball Recap: Huntingtown Has No Trouble Against Patuxent

Huntingtown won the last time they faced Patuxent and things went their way on Thursday too. The Huntingtown Hurricanes put the hurt on the Patuxent Panthers with a sharp 75-52 victory. Given the Hurricanes' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Panthers are ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Defeat or not, Patuxent got some senior leadership from Kamauri Jones and Michael Morris. Jones went 8-for-12 to rack up 17 points, while Morris went 6-for-10 en route to 14 points. The game was Jones' third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Lawrence, who posted ten points.

Huntingtown has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points over those games. Patuxent's loss was their 19th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-20.

Huntingtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Patuxent, they and Thomas Stone will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Patuxent is facing Thomas Stone at the right time seeing as Thomas Stone is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
