Flag Football Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Maine South

Maine South entered their tilt with Glenbrook North on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 19-6 victory over the Spartans. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois flag football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Spartans are ranked 40th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The critical scores for Maine South came from Nellie Ossmo, Aribella Spandiary, and Julia Laske.

Maine South didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Emerson De La Cruz and Gabi Shaw. Shaw also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.

Maine South's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Glenbrook North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Maine South will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Walther Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. As for Glenbrook North, they will square off against Waukegan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
