Basketball Recap: Laurel Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Laurel proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 33) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wayne County War Eagles, sneaking past 53-51. For the Golden Tornadoes, this counts as revenge for the 62-52 win the War Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Laurel's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Wayne County, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laurel will venture away from home to face off against Vancleave at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wayne County, they will head out to challenge Gautier at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
