Baseball Recap: Mount Greylock Regional Takes a Loss

If Mount Greylock Regional was riding high fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Amherst-Pelham Regional on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mounties lost 18-7 to the Monument Mountain Spartans on Friday. The Mounties have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Jake Newberry led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Everett Bayliss was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Mount Greylock Regional's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Monument Mountain, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.
