Baseball Recap: South Amboy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

South Amboy came into Thursday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the New Brunswick Zebra on Thursday. The Governors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Zebra, too.

Micah Nemeth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, South Amboy's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Robert Conklin, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another was Robert Senape, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory got South Amboy back to even at 8-8. As for New Brunswick, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. South Amboy will head out to face off against Somerset Tech at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for New Brunswick, they will venture away from home to challenge Perth Amboy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
