Indian Lake's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Shawnee. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lakers.
The team relied heavily on Colten Corcoran, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Kolton Cummins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Kenton Ridge won against Springfield on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Cougars didn't even let Urbana on the board, marking the Cougars' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Zach Deel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kenton Ridge is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Deel was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Brennan Shaffer and Aiden Yeatts did most of the damage at the plate: Shaffer scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Yeatts went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nic Stumpf, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Kenton Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Lake, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
