Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Estrella Foothills). They enjoyed a cozy 32-16 win over the Cibola Raiders on Friday.
Will Davis produced another solid effort rushing for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making two total tackles. Jacob Rawls also helped out with an impressive 114 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Estrella Foothills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cibola only rushed for 160.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Damian Camarillo, who picked up 130 receiving yards and one score. Camarillo was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 60 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Marques Montague, who rushed for 70 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
Estrella Foothills' record now sits at 6-1. As for Cibola, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Looking ahead, Estrella Foothills will be playing at home against Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Skyhawks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Cibola, they will venture away from home to square off against Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
